While you’ll always find something fun to do in St. Johns County, the holidays are an especially exciting time. When you’re looking for something entertaining to do, check out a few of these top holiday activities in St. Johns County.
Nights of Lights
Nights of Lights in St. Augustine is an award-winning holiday lights display running from November 18, 2017 to January 31, 2018. Come down to the historic city center where nearly three million lights adorn buildings, trees, light poles, and more. Businesses stay open late so you can enjoy the lights, and there are even trolley and train tours available.
Dressing of the Palms
For a “Florida” twist on holiday decorating, head to “Dressing of the Palms” at Vilano Beach from December 5, 2017, to January 4, 2018. Businesses, organizations, schools, and individuals adopt the palm trees lining the streets of town center – and decorate them for the holidays! Stroll the streets enjoying all the trees and pick your favorite. Then check out the Vilano Beach Sunset Celebration on December 7 to see which tree earned the people’s choice vote.
Regatta of Lights
Another Florida-centric holiday tradition worth checking out is the Regatta of Lights, a boat parade hosted by the St. Augustine Yacht Club. Take a trip to St. Augustine’s waterfront between the Castillo de San Marcos and the Bridge of Lions on December 9 to see sailboats, powerboats, shrimp boats, trawlers, and other vessels on parade, festooned with bright holiday lights and decorations. Parade participants compete for awards like most colorful, best theme, best in class, and best overall.
